چکیده
Background: Preoperative anxiety and parental deprivation remains a challenge to anesthesiologists.Dexmedetomidine (DexM) has sedative analgesic effects via central action. Ketamine (KET) is an N-methyl-d-aspartate (NMDA) receptor antagonist that produces state of sedation. Nebulization harmless, rapid absorption, inexpensive administration route. The aim this work was compare the effectiveness aerosolized DexM KET as premedication general anesthesia in pediatric surgeries. Methods: This prospective double-blind randomized controlled research carried out on 60 cases both sexes aged (3-10) years with ASA physical status I, II who were undergoing elective surgery. Cases divided equally into 3 groups; group D (Dexmedetomidine): received dexmedetomidine (3mcg/kg), K (Ketamine): (3 mg/kg) C (control): normal saline without drug. Results: Ramsay sedation scale after 15 minutes insignificant different between KET, 30 significantly better than KET. There significant difference versus separation mask acceptance decrease HR before induction controls. no recovery discharge time all groups. Incidence hypersalivation more controls, while incidence other complications among Conclusions: Aerosolized can be used advantage for preoperative

Pediatric premedication: a double-blind randomized trial of dexmedetomidine or ketamine alone versus a combination of dexmedetomidine and ketamine
BACKGROUND Preoperative anxiety is common in pediatric patients. When dexmedetomidine is used alone for sedation as premedication, children tend to awaken when separated from their parents, and body movements occur during invasive procedures. We tested the hypothesis that the combination of dexmedetomidine and ketamine may be a useful premedication to alleviate preoperative anxiety and improve ...
متن کاملLow-Dose Intramuscular Dexmedetomidine as Premedication: A Randomized Controlled Trial
BACKGROUND Dexmedetomidine-induced bradycardia or hypotension has recently attracted considerable attention because of potentially grave consequences, including sinus arrest and refractory cardiogenic shock. A route other than intravenous injection or a low dose may help minimize cardiovascular risks associated with dexmedetomidine. However, few studies have addressed the clinical effects of lo...
متن کاملComparison Hemodynamic Effects of Midazolam and Dexmedetomidine as a Premedication in Patients Undergoing Upper Limb Surgeries: A Double-blind Intervention
Introduction: Premedication is an integral part of general anesthesia which has side effects. The aim of this study was to compare the hemodynamic effects of Dexmedetomidine and Midazolam as a premedication in patients undergoing elective upper limb surgery during induction of anesthesia and postoperative shivering. Methods: 60 candidates for elective upper limb surgery who referred to Shahid R...

Methods: Forty six patients schadualed for arthroscopic knee surgery under general anaesthesia, were randomly devided into two groups. Intervention group received 1μg/kg dexmedetomidine (D) and isotonic saline. Control group received 25ml is...
متن کاملCOMPARISION OF THE EFFICACY OF NEBULIZED L-EPINEPHRINE, SALBUTAMOLAND NORMAL SALINE IN ACUTE BRONCHIOLITIS: A RANDOMIZED CLINICAL TRIAL
ABSTRACT Background: Acute bronchiolitis is the most common form of lower respiratory tract infection in infancy. There are numerous contradictory reports regarding the efficacy of nebulized bronchodilators in the management of infants with acute bronchiolitis. This study was designed to compare the efficacy of nebulized epinephrine with salbutamol for treatment of the disease. Methods: In a r...
